The MARK Board

Members of the MARK board include:

-Glen Faulkner- President

Glen1-292x300Glen Faulkner is a lifelong resident of New Kingston. He graduated from Margaretville Central School in 1984 and went on to receive an electrical engineering degree from SUNY Morrisville. After college, Glen was employed by Time Warner Cable in Saugerties where he assumed the role of Plant Manager for a tri-county region. In 1996, an employment opportunity at the Margaretville Telephone Company enabled Glen to fulfill his desire to continue to live and work locally. In 2008, Glen was promoted to General Manager where he oversees the management of the Company including its cable television and broadband subsidiaries.
Glen is a member of the Margaretville Fire Department, Commissioner of the Middletown-Hardenburgh Fire District, part-time pyrotechnician for Bay Fireworks, and active in various community organizations. He and his wife Elaine have raised three children of which two still reside locally. Additional interests include spending as much time as possible working outdoors on land and building improvement projects (or anything required work with his tractor) and collaborating with the individuals and organizations looking to revive the local business community.

Glen is a member of the Margaretville Fire Department, part-time pyrotechnician for Bay Fireworks, Commissioner for the Middletown Hardenburgh Fire District, and is active in various community organizations. Additional interests include spending time in the great outdoors working on land improvement projects (playing on his tractor), playing sports, watching baseball (Yankees), and family vacations.

Candice Rudd – Vice President

CandaceRuddCandace was born and raised in Margaretville and returned to the area after living in Florida for 20 yrs. She is a Margaretville Central School Graduate who continued her education in Nursing School at SUNY Ulster.
 While in Florida, Candace tapped into her creative side and owned and operated a Salon for nearly 20 years. Here entrepreneurship didn’t stop with a fifteen employee Salon, she was also the owner of a monogramming store and the owner/manager of two rental properties.
 In 2001, Candace and her husband, Marshall and son, Sands opted for a slower more quiet lifestyle and arrived back in the Catskills locating in Roxbury. Since that time Candace has been active in the Community and an annual participant in and supporter of Relay for Life in Delaware County. 
She has two lovely grandchildren and family is a huge part of her life.
She also enjoys skiing and snowshoeing in the winter along with year round travel. She practices yoga, enjoys bike riding and the outdoors. She is dedicated to health and wellness for herself and those around her.
 Her commitment to the MARK Project Mark comes with a passion to help make the community a better place and her ability to give back to the community she loves.

 Nicole Haroldson-Secretary

Nicole H PhotoNicole is a lifelong Delaware County resident. She grew up in Andes until her sophomore year of high school and then moved to Roxbury where she graduated. She then continued her education at SUNY Delhi where she earned her Culinary Arts degree. After working in the restaurant industry for multiple years as an Executive Chef, she went on to a career in banking, and later found her calling in Real Estate. She is now a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson with Coldwell Banker Timberland Properties out of Margaretville and finds great joy in making people’s dream of homeownership in the Catskills a reality.
In 2012 Nicole married the love of her life, Jesse. They welcomed their son Sloan into the world in November of 2014. They are enjoying every moment of being new parents. They look forward to raising their son in the region where they both were raised and call home.
Nicole spends most of her down time with her family. She also enjoys golfing with her husband, gardening, and shopping the local farmers markets. She has been a black belt in Tang Soo Do since the age of 16 and also dabbled in MMA as an adult.
Along with serving on the Board of Directors of the Mark Project, Nicole also serves on the Roxbury Historical Preservation Commission. She enjoys doing her part to better her community.

Susan Dey

Susan Dey Photo“After spending 37 years in California Susan returned to her home state of NY to be closer to family and to once again live where her sensibilities were formed. Along with her career as an actress Susan worked on many awareness and fundraising campaigns for organizations that addressed children with special needs, affordable housing, food bank distribution, and other socioeconomic issues. Susan continues serving on the Executive Board of The Rape Foundation in Santa Monica, CA.”

Rick Osterhoudt

RickRick Osterhoudt was born and raised in Fleischmanns and has been employed by Fleischmanns anchor business of Wadler Brothers for the past 27 years. A graduate of Margaretville Central School, Rick went on the study at both Mohawk Valley Community College and SUNY Institute of technology where he emerged with a bachelors degree in Science. Rick was a co founder of Catskill Mountian Youth Soccer where he coached for over 16 years. He served as Fleischmanns Fire Chief and on the Fleischmanns Recreation Commiittee for nearly a decade. He and his wife Chris live in Margaretville with their family and Rick now spends most of his spare time travelling East Coast Motor Cross circuit with step daughter Casey.

Gary Rosa

JudgeRosaHome1Gary Rosa is a native of Delaware County and raised in Dry Brook, a 1978 graduate of Margaretville Central School. Off to college at SUNY Plattsburgh, then Albany Law School, Gary returned home to Delaware County in 1988, to practice law in Margaretville, and raise a family in New Kingston.
From a large extended family that has long given public service to the people of Delaware County, Gary is married to Lori Rosa, History teacher at Walton High School. They’ve raised four children: Ryan, former captain in the Marine Corps now with the U.S. State Department in Afghanistan; Brendan currently working in the western U.S.; Andrew, a graduate in Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston; and Katie, a recent graduate from Denison University in Ohio.
Gary brings wisdom, passion and a true sense of community to the MARK Board.

Matt Sluiter

Sluiter Photo_-040Matt was raised in Andes, and attended Andes Central School until the 8th grade. Determined to become a member of the U.S. Alpine Ski Racing Team Matt had the opportunity to attend The National Sports Academy at Lake Placid where he graduated in 1990. He continued ski racing in college as a member of a Division 1 team at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
Immediately after college Matt began working at Sluiter Agency, Inc., a Main Street Margaretville, family owned insurance agency with roots dating back to 1914. He has served as a board member and past President of the Hamden Hill Ridge Riders, Inc., a not for profit snowmobile club with trails in Bovina, Andes, Hamden, Meredith & Walton. He has been a volunteer fireman for 20 years and is currently active in the Bovina Fire Department.
Matt resides in Bovina with his wife Dana and their two children Ryan & Sara. He enjoys snowmobiling, hunting and golf. Matt & Dana are devoted to their children & spend most of their time supporting Ryan’s passion for basketball and golf and Sara’s love of competitive cheerleading.

 

Leigh Melander

melanderheadshotsepiaLeigh Melander, Ph.D. has a doctorate in cultural mythology and psychology and an eclectic background in the arts, writing, and graphic design, as well as consulting in strategic planning, outreach and marketing, and event planning around the country for over 20 years. She has performed and taught internationally as an actor, dancer, singer, and harpist and currently hosts two talk shows on WIOX Community Radio. In 2013, she and her husband Mark opened Spillian: A Place to Revel, a center for imagination and creativity in the old Fleischmanns family estate in Fleischmanns, NY. Since she and Mark moved to the area, she has co-founded Andes Works!, a community/economic development group in Andes; served as Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Central Catskills Chamber of Commerce; served as co-chair of FAB (Fleischmanns Alliance for Business); and supports a range of other efforts in the region. Nationally, Leigh serves on the Board of the Joseph Campbell Foundation and the Academic Advisory Board of Spring Journal and Books. Leigh is honored to be working with the MARK Project and its inspired community building efforts in the region.

Marilee Asher

Marilee Asher PhotoLifelong resident of the area who has worked in the banking industry for 40 years, currently branch manager of Community Bank NA in Fleischmanns. Marilee has served on many boards and been involved with numerous community organizations throughout the years and is a current board member of Skene Memorial Library.

Rob Anderson

Bob Andersen splits his time between New York City and Roxbury where he enjoys playing tennis and bike riding with his wife, Jan, from Spring through Fall, skiing in the Winter and just enjoying the beauty of the Catskills year – round. Bob has an undergraduate degree in English Literature from Northeastern University and an MBA from NYU. He is an executive with Thomas Publishing Company, an international business-to-business publishing operation. Bob and Jan are the parents of two grown sons, one practicing medicine in Wellington, New Zealand and the other involved with commercial real estate finance in New York.

Bob is honored to be associated with the MARK Project and its commitment to the renovation and revitalization of our Central Catskills communities.

Dave Riley

Dave, a CPA residing in New York City, discovered the Catskills when attending a birthday party in Phoenicia. Hooked on the area, he and his wife, Anita, spent the better part of a year and a half looking for their “real home”. The further west they went, the more they liked it. They landed in Margaretville a decade ago and have enjoyed it ever since. Even the winters. Most weekends are now spent with family and friends trying to take advantage of everything the Catskills have to offer. Dave holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Connecticut and currently works in the finance industry in New York City.
