Main Street Revitalization

It’s an uplifting and cheerful prospect when you can watch day by day as some staid and peeling Main Street relic gets herself scraped, sanded and freshly painted. Main Street facade improvements bring new life into our villages and put a spring in our step. But revitalization projects, like the ones just completed in Margaretville, go far deeper than cosmetics. In Margaretville 11 buildings received critical rehabilitation, from those visible face lifts to infrastructure innards to a new furnace, apartment repairs, and shoring them up from stem to stern. All told more than $175,000 went into core Main Street mainstays, including the Margaretville Liquor Store, Discoveries, Akerley House, and the Commons.

MARK will look to future NY Main Street Programs for funding to continue this critical work to enhance our small rural Main Streets.
