Fleischmanns Village Park Planning

Fleischmanns Park Plan

Fleischmanns Park is located in the Village of Fleischmanns bounded on the north by the waters of the Bushkill, on the west by a private residence, on the south by Wagner Avenue and on the east by the park access road. It occupies approximately 5 acres.

Fleischmanns Park was developed by the Fleischmanns Family, the founders of the Fleischmanns Yeast Co., who spent many a summer in the area. Charles Fleischmanns’ sons, Max and Julius, were avid baseball fans and in mid 1880 purchased the lot and built a baseball diamond.

In the 1890s, the family acquired the major league Cincinatti Reds and hosted their farm team called the Mountain Athletic Club (MAC). After many improvements and upgrades to the site, it was reported that up to 5,000 spectators were drawn to the games arriving is horse and buggies and early automobiles.

Baseball was played at the field under the Fleischmanns sponsorship until 1913, when the family stopped summering in the area and deeded the park to the Village.

Currently the grounds are used to host soccer and many other events including the well known Vintage Base Ball teams of  Delaware County, MAC, Roxbury Nine and the Bovina Dairymen.

Fleischmanns eagerly awaits for the approval of their park funding. aa
