Community Kitchen

A thriving group of small farmers in the Central Catskills needed a community kitchen. It helps them and other local producers make and package foods and value-added products. Everything from frozen corn to jams and jellies allows farmers to extend their income past the growing season.

A commercial grade kitchen would be out of reach for most small producers. Instead MARK came together with the Town of Roxbury and Transition Catskills to transform the North Barn in Roxbury’s Kirkside Park into a fully equipped professional kitchen. Certified by the State Department of Health, the kitchen has a planned opening for summer 2020. Local producers can rent it either by the half day or full day for a nominal fee so area farms, local bakers, and artisanal food producers can prepare and package their goods for resale.
