Community Projects
MARK’s core mission is to build a resilient local community. This extends to everything we do from housing to economy. We are involved in projects large such as Kirkside, a fully operation Inn and Restaurant that will serve as a Career Development and Entrepreneurial Incubator for post graduate students in the Hospitality Industry. Small Projects include NY Main Street Building Renovation Programs, Owner Occupied Income Eligible Home Repair, Assisting municipalities in their comprehensive planning process and much more.
When there’s a startup nonprofit organization, such as the HUBB in Margaretville, we work with them to do their bookkeeping and help with administration until they can achieve their own nonprofit status. Organizations we’ve helped include The Hubb, Fleischmanns First, Greater Roxbury Business Association, Transition Catskills, Business Alliance of Margaretville, WIOX, Farm to Fork in Andes, the Pakatakan Farmers Market, and the Community Food Pantry among others. Our assistance also allows them to fundraise under MARK Project’s 501C3 status.
We’ve helped put in place funds for opioid and substance abuse prevention, assisted the Halcottsville Fire Department and worked with athletic groups from the Fleischmanns’ tennis community to vintage baseball teams like the Roxbury Nine, Mountain Athletic and the Bovina Dairymen.
Kirkside
A historic mansion once owned by Helen Gould, daughter of railroad magnate and Roxbury native son, Jay Gould was empty. Now it’s being reimagined as an engine – an economic engine.
Community Kitchen
MARK is working with Transition Catskills to transform the North Barn in Roxbury’s Kirkside Park into a fully stocked professional kitchen.
The Fleischmanns Gateway Project
The planned park will welcome visitors to Main Street and announces that the village is open for business.
Amphitheater Project
Soon this park in the Village of Margaretville will be an intergenerational gathering place hosting concerts, theater performances, movies and social events.
Transition Catskills
MARK has helped Transition Catskills work with municipalities in the region to become Clean Energy Communities.
